A bit about me: I am a new tutor offering my services in maths after achieving an 8 in my GCSEs. I want to help people improve and achieve their academic goals through my tutoring. I want to introduce to students that whilst learning can be tough, it can also become enjoyable when in a fun environment with someone of a similar age that they can relate to. I’m also doing maths at A-Level, and I’m currently predicted an A.
What are my sessions like: I will plan with the student in mind which topics each session will consist of and will bring resources and notes needed for students to use so there is a structure to the session. I will make sure my sessions are as fun and enjoyable as possible because working and revising can be a very gruelling process. I ensure that I challenge the topics students are under confident in so they can be just as confident in them as they are for any other topic.
My favourite revision method: My go to revision method is doing past papers in timed exam conditions. This helps me understand the wording of real exam questions and how I should delegate my time per question in the exam as well as identifying the topics I need to work on to gain more marks.
Next steps: I have my 2nd year of College to look forward to (not too much) so a lot of work will be put into working hard in my subjects. I would like to go to University after I finish college and do a course in a maths or biology based field.
Tutoring mantra: Tutoring is more than just getting questions right and wrong – it’s understanding where mistakes are made and why. It’s about knowing topics well so you can answer all types of questions with certainty. It’s my job to make sure that you’re having fun and working on building your confidence, all at the same time.
Hobbies: I play football for the same team for 12 years now. I used to play basketball for a local team for 5 years and I also like to get out with my friends.
