A bit about me: Hi, I’m Celeste. I have 2 years of tutoring experience. I offer lessons in German and History both of which I got a 9 (A*) in at GCSE. My father is German so I was raised with 2 languages and lived just outside of Hamburg as a child. My father is also a film producer specialising in period pieces which helped create a love for history in me. I’m very passionate about both subjects and study both at A-level.

What my sessions are like: For history students I plan on drilling in the structures I used for each type of history question, which helped me to achieve full marks, focusing on time management and exam strategy. For German my focus would be on expanding my students vocabulary and helping them gain confidence in more complex grammar structures.

My favourite revision method: Timed past papers, for me this was the best way to eliminate any issues I had with time management, and also helped embed content, as I marked the papers myself.

Next steps: Although I’m uncertain as to where and what I want to study, I’m keeping my options open and aiming for the best, I’m currently enrolled in my college’s Oxbridge and High Achievers programmes. As of right now I study German, History and Fine Art at A-level and also studying for the Mandarin HSK3 (equivalent to AS) at Loreto college.

Tutoring mantra: It’s not rocket science, if I’m struggling with content I just try to keep simplifying it until it becomes easy to understand. So far this outlook hasn’t failed me.

Hobbies: I love learning languages and next year I hope to sit both the HSK3 exam for Chinese and the B1 exam for Russian. I also love playing sports, especially rounders and volleyball, which I’m the captain for the girl’s team at Stockport Volleyball Club.
